2019 provided the Lori Dennis Inc. team much to be grateful for! In reflecting on what we wanted to write about this Thanksgiving, a common theme kept arising: the valuable relationships that not only sustain our business but make it worth while. We’re grateful for our repeat clients who trust us with their homes, and give us the creative freedom to do what designers do best: design and be creative. We’re grateful for the vendor relationships we’ve built over the years of working in the industry, who make the stunning products we install in our projects. We owe so much to them!

Gratitude for Our Repeat Clients and Close Design Industry Relationships!

For the second year in a row, Lori Dennis Inc. was asked back as a brand ambassador for Lamps Plus and as an industry influencer on Esteem Media’s Design Blogger’s Tour of High Point Market. Here are some of the highlights:

Renovation Inspiration TV Show, Season II Presented by Lamps Plus

Back for a second season: We teamed up with Lamps Plus to bring you new Renovation Inspiration. This time, its in the form of a single family home that Lori and her husband Roy, of SoCal Contractor purchased with the intention to turn into a three-unit rental for Air Bnb. Watch the transformation here:

Ending Homelessness with Pen & Napkin and A Sense of Home Org.

One of the major initiatives we’ve taken on over the past couple of years at Lori Dennis Inc. is uncovering design solutions to end homelessness -there is a pervasive homelessness problem in our hometown of Los Angeles and it’s greatly unnecessary. There are so many things to be done. So we are grateful to our friends at Lamps Plus for introducing us to some of the incredible local organizations who are teaming up with designers to furnish the homes of families transitioning out of homeless or the foster care system. Check out some of the recent work we’ve done with them here and learn how you can also get involved:

Gratitude for Two New Books!

Green Interior Design, Second Edition

After the success of the Green Interior Design book on sustainable design and building for design professionals, the publisher has asked us to revitalize the book and this time, Lori Dennis has teamed up with Courtney Porter to give the second edition a new spin: this version is all about fun and accessibility – it’s as much for the DIY’er as it is for the design professional. It is for anyone who cares about the environment and the learning about the impact and ethics of home building, furniture, and decor.

Quadrant Life

In addition to Green Interior Design and our sustainability initiatives, we’re taking things a step further and have another book coming out! The Quadrant Life is all about finding balance in your relationships, finances, wellness, and spiritual life. Lori had the opportunity to give a talk about cultivating balance in the four cornerstones of your life recently — more on that in a minute. In the meantime, the book is available for pre-order here: Check it out.

Paying It Forward

Ted X Santa Barbara

We finally get a little time to relax and rejuvenate for the holidays after finishing off the past two months with a bang! Lori Dennis had the pleasure of speaking about design solutions for ending homelessness and our work with Pen & Napkin and Sense of Home Org on the TED stage, a truly transformational experience, reaching not only a huge audience, but a caring one. We’re so excited to share more of that with you when it becomes available!

Designers on Social Summit

Coming off of TED last week, Lori sat down with Bobby Tsui, founder of the Designers on Social Summit and we’re so grateful to DOSS for the opportunity to expand their offerings with Lori’s course on How to Create a Map to the Four Cornerstones of a Fulfilling Life at the Designers on Social Summit, to get you in the right mindset for success. The course is offered online for FREE and you can register for it here.
