LORI DENNIS MEDITATION ROOM
Left: While meditation rooms are certainly all designed to be relaxing, Lori Dennis wanted to take hers one step further, creating a womb-like experience designed to target all of the senses. Music wafts through the space and streams into the custom bed, whose cocoon-inspired architecture is designed to cradle and provide refuge. “We want to engage people when they walk into the room and have them experience it through touch and sound,” says Dennis. The plush, non-toxic velvet that makes up the interior of the bed speaks to the designer’s appreciation of holistic design, while the careful detailing throughout speaks to her love of beauty. A Versailles-inspired wall of mirrors from Maitland-Smith, stacked upside down and side-by-side, reflects the soft finishes and gives the impression of a larger space. “This room had less architectural detail than some of the others in the home; so, we created interest with our furniture and accessories,” she says.
